SALAAM TO KALAM
Salaam to Kalam Event:
Audacious Dreams Science Network joined hands with raindrops, Chennai and Sathyabama university supported by house of kalam and Dr. APJ Abdul kalam international Foundation conducted a grand event called “Salaam to kalam”, Aim high | Dream high | Fly high, to give a memorable experience to the kids and children will be taken to memorial of Dr. Kalam and house of kalam, rameshwaram to pay their tribute on his first death anniversary (27th July 2016). This event was initiated not only to provide an opportunity to children to visit the memorial and the house of kalam and also to fulfill their experience of memorable initiative towards making a positive impact on the young minds and lives of the children.
Audacious dreams foundation (ADF) a youth led and youth focused social organization from Vellore founded by Mr. Dinesh Gajendran, catalyst and executive director of Audacious Dreams Foundation an MBA graduate in 2011 is widely popular in delivering youth development and life skill projects to rural areas in and around Vellore district. The Objectives of Audacious Dreams Foundation is supporting education for less privileged children empowering young people in rural areas imparting the life skills to school students.
Audacious Dreams Science Network
Audacious Dreams Science Network is recently initiated by the Audacious Dreams Foundation to bring science to hands of kids beyond the class room and laboratories. Audacious Dreams Science Network is now successfully affiliated with vigyan prasar Network of science club (an Autonomous Organization under the Department of science and Technology, Government of India) recently; Audacious Dreams has done a survey in Vellore with the younger generation in institutions. It was found that the children had a unanimous desire to visit the House of Kalam and his memorial at rameswaram. Thus, Audacious Dreams science Network took initiative to fulfill desire of the children.
Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam is an inspiration and motivation by the name itself. The missile man of India has left us lot behind to get inspired and to learn from his life.
Selection Process
A motivational essay writing competition was held on the topic “Why kalam is your inspiration and what your biggest dream is?”.
The students of classes 9 to 12, undergraduates and postgraduate’s students were eligible to attend the essay competition. The drawing competition was also conducted for students from grade 1 to 8. The students submitted their essay as per the rules that the essay should not exceed more than 1000 words and can be written in English or Tamil.
Tribute to kalam
The total participants of 2280 students from various institution in and around Vellore took part in “Salaam to Kalam”, essay and drawing competition. Out of 2280 participants top 10 students were selected and they were taken to the House of Kalam and Dr. APJ Abdul kalam memorial. The selected students got chance to met Honorable Central Minister Shri. Venkkiya Naidu, honorable Defense minister Shri.Monohar Parrikar and Sate Minister Mr. Manikandan and leading celebrities. They had an interaction with the kalam’s family. They paid their tribute on the kalam’s first anniversary (27th July 2016). We hope that the selected students / winners of the competition have been enjoyed and experienced cherishable memories with the inspiring values.
Feedback
The students who went to rameshwaram shared their experience, out of which T. Aadhirai from Auxilium college said “ Opportunity are golden one which cannot be brought back again if it is missed and also the movements that they enjoyed also cannot be brought back. She shared that the experience was very nice, enthusiastic and she gained a lot of knowledge.
- Sunder rajan from Bright Minds Vidyalaya shared that it was his first time exposure with new friends.
- Vamsinath from Brammas Vidyalaya CBSE School shared that he was very excited to see the kalam’s memorial and he said that he enjoyed a lot.
- Nandheeswaran from Bethel Matric Higher secondary school shared that he got a wonderful opportunity to speak with honorable Ministers of India.
- Gopinath from Government high school, Gudiyattam shared that he got the chance to tribute his dream hero Dr. APJ Abdul kalam and experienced a new feel by coming out from his comfort zone.
